Richfield, Minnesota American Legion Post 435
When Earl started at Post 435 in 1967, it was one of the fastest growing posts in the country.

Because of the proximity to Met Stadium and Met Center, players and staff from the Twins, Vikings and North Stars could all be seen tipping one or two back on occasion. Earl was often the one serving them. Despite retiring once in 1986, he continued working there until 2007, working as a doorman for the last several years.

Earl was a hero among the Twins players at one of the Legion golf tournaments when he almost hit tight-fisted owner, Calvin Griffith, with a golf ball (unintentionally of course)

Earl's 80th birthday party was in one of the banquet rooms. Here he (far left) appears to be telling an amusing anecdote to some members of the Wolfe clan.

Longtime Legion waitress, Hazel Sinning, and my dad were close friends after my mother died. Hazel and my Aunt Bess became quite close. Hazel was like another sister-in-law, even though despite Bess and Ed's frequent encouragement, they never did get married.

This was the sign outside the emptied building as of February 2023
