Although the KLX is a good bike for what it is, it didn't work out, so I cut my losses quicker than I had with any of the previous 28 motorcycles. It
had to fit in my van, but my estimates were a bit too rosy and it was not going to fit, not diagonally, not with the forks compressed, it just
wasn't going to fit.
The other issue was that the 300 pound bike took a lot of effort to load and unload. It put stress on areas of my body that are not as strong as they once
were. I felt the weight in my brief ride in the dirt also. The street legal aspect, which added to the weight considerably, did not really help me that
much. I didn't know anyone in the area that rode the trails and it was certainly not enough of a street bike to ride it all the way to Payson or Tucson.
The road to the Second Water trailhead was its only time in the dirt. OHVs are not allowed on this trail and it would have been a pretty rugged
test of bike and body anyway.
I needed something a bit smaller, but not much, something with a 19-inch front wheel. The options were limited. I had to pick between a trail
bike and a motocross bike. If you have been going through this list, you can probably guess which way I went.
